Terms & Conditions
Effective January 1, 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern enrollment in and use of educational programs, services, websites, online learning platforms, instructional materials, and related resources provided by the National Institute for Health Technology (NIHT).
By enrolling in an NIHT program, submitting payment, or accessing NIHT educational materials or online learning resources, students acknowledge that they are responsible for reviewing and complying with these Terms & Conditions, the applicable enrollment agreement, NIHT policies, and individual program requirements.
1. Educational Programs
NIHT provides education and training in sleep technology. Programs may be delivered through live online instruction, recorded instruction, independent self-study, supervised clinical practice, or a combination of these methods.
Program structure, curriculum, instructional hours, schedules, clinical requirements, tuition, and completion requirements vary by program and are described in the applicable program materials and enrollment documents.
NIHT reserves the right to make reasonable changes to schedules, instructors, educational materials, learning platforms, or methods of delivery when necessary to maintain program operations or educational quality, provided such changes do not materially reduce the educational program purchased by the student.
2. Live Online Instruction
NIHT instructor-led education may be delivered through live online meetings using Zoom or another approved virtual platform. Sessions may also be recorded and made available to enrolled students for educational purposes and scheduling flexibility.
Students are responsible for maintaining adequate internet access, a compatible computer or device, functioning audio capabilities, and any other technology reasonably necessary to participate.
Technical problems involving a student's personal equipment, internet service, email account, or other third-party technology do not automatically extend program deadlines or create entitlement to a refund.
3. Self-Study Programs
NIHT also offers educational programs designed for independent, asynchronous online completion.
Students enrolled in a Self-Study Program are responsible for completing required modules, lessons, quizzes, examinations, and other assigned educational activities within the applicable access or completion period.
Self-Study enrollment does not include instructor-led classes, clinical practice, textbooks, student kits, or other services unless those items are specifically identified as included in the enrollment option purchased by the student.
4. Student Accounts & Course Access
Online course access is issued solely for the individual student enrolled in the program.
Students may not share usernames, passwords, course access links, examinations, or other account credentials with another person.
Students are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their login information.
NIHT may temporarily suspend access when reasonably necessary to investigate suspected unauthorized account use, academic misconduct, security concerns, nonpayment, or material violations of NIHT policies.
5. Intellectual Property & Educational Materials
NIHT educational materials are provided solely for the personal educational use of enrolled students.
Unless expressly authorized in writing by NIHT, students may not reproduce, copy, distribute, publish, sell, upload, transmit, share, or commercially exploit NIHT educational materials.
Protected materials may include course videos and recordings, presentations, slides, study guides, handouts, quizzes, examinations, answer keys, instructor materials, downloadable resources, forms, and other proprietary instructional content.
Enrollment grants the student a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use NIHT materials for educational purposes only. Enrollment does not transfer ownership of NIHT intellectual property.
Unauthorized copying or distribution may result in suspension or termination of course access and other remedies available to NIHT.
6. Recording of Classes
NIHT may record live online instructional sessions for educational, student-access, administrative, or quality-assurance purposes.
Because classes may be interactive, students may occasionally appear or be heard in recordings.
Students may not independently record, livestream, publish, distribute, or share NIHT instructional sessions without prior written authorization from NIHT.
7. Tuition & Payment Obligations
Students are responsible for the tuition and fees associated with their selected enrollment option.
NIHT may offer payment in full, in-house payment arrangements, third-party financing, deposits, down payments, seat reservations, or other payment options.
A payment plan changes the timing of tuition payments and does not change the total tuition obligation except where NIHT expressly provides a written discount or adjustment.
Failure to make required payments may affect continued participation, access to educational materials, examinations, completion documentation, or other services, subject to applicable law, NIHT policy, and the student's enrollment agreement.
8. Deposits, Down Payments & Seat Reservations
Payments identified as deposits, down payments, or seat reservations are applied toward tuition unless otherwise expressly disclosed.
Treatment of these payments following cancellation or withdrawal is governed by NIHT's Refund & Cancellation Policy, the applicable enrollment agreement, and regulatory requirements.
9. Third-Party Financing
Students who use a third-party financing provider may also be subject to that provider's separate terms and conditions.
NIHT does not control third-party credit decisions, approval criteria, financing terms, interest charges, fees, collection practices, or other requirements imposed by a financing provider.
A financing application or approval does not alter NIHT's academic or program-completion requirements.
10. Refunds, Cancellations & Withdrawals
Cancellations, withdrawals, tuition adjustments, and refunds are governed by NIHT's separately published Refund & Cancellation Policy, applicable enrollment documents, and governing regulatory requirements.
Students should review the Refund & Cancellation Policy before submitting payment or beginning an educational program.
11. Academic & Program Requirements
Students are responsible for satisfying all requirements applicable to their program.
Requirements may include attendance or participation, coursework, quizzes, examinations, assignments, clinical practice, competency documentation, and other academic or administrative requirements established for the program.
Certificates or other completion documentation will not be issued until applicable academic and administrative requirements have been satisfied.
12. Academic Integrity
Students are expected to complete their own academic work.
Cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, sharing examination content, falsifying clinical documentation, misrepresenting completed work, or obtaining unauthorized assistance on an examination may result in disciplinary action.
Depending on the nature and severity of the conduct, action may include a warning, invalidation of academic work, repeating an assessment, suspension, or dismissal.
13. Clinical Practice
Certain NIHT programs may require supervised clinical practice.
Clinical practice must be completed at an NIHT-approved clinical site under appropriate supervision and in accordance with applicable program requirements.
Students must comply with the policies, safety requirements, confidentiality requirements, supervision standards, and professional expectations of the clinical facility.
Students completing supervised clinical practice may not function as independent sleep technologists while participating as NIHT students.
14. Clinical Site Approval & Placement
Students may complete clinical practice through NIHT when that option is available or may identify an outside clinical facility for NIHT review and approval.
All outside clinical sites and supervisors must be approved by NIHT before clinical hours may be credited toward program completion.
NIHT does not guarantee placement at a particular clinical facility, geographic location, date, shift, or employer.
Approval of a clinical site does not establish an employment relationship between NIHT, the student, and the clinical facility.
15. Certification & Credentialing
Completion of an NIHT educational program does not itself grant professional certification, registration, licensure, or another occupational credential.
Third-party credentialing organizations establish and control their own eligibility requirements, examinations, fees, policies, and credentialing pathways.
Students are responsible for reviewing the current requirements of the applicable credentialing organization and determining whether their education, experience, and other qualifications satisfy the requirements of the credential they intend to pursue.
16. State Licensure & Regulatory Requirements
Requirements for working in sleep technology vary by state and may change.
Students are responsible for determining whether the state in which they intend to work requires licensure, registration, a trainee permit, specific education, clinical experience, certification, or another authorization.
Enrollment in or completion of an NIHT program does not guarantee eligibility for professional licensure in every state.
Prospective students should verify applicable state requirements before enrollment when their intended state of employment regulates sleep technology practice.
17. Employment & Earnings
NIHT does not guarantee employment, job placement, promotion, salary, eligibility for a particular position, or acceptance by an employer following completion of an educational program.
Employment decisions are made independently by employers and may depend on professional credentials, state requirements, experience, background requirements, employer policies, geographic location, and other factors outside NIHT's control.
18. Student Conduct
Students are expected to interact professionally and respectfully with instructors, NIHT personnel, other students, patients, clinical supervisors, and clinical-site personnel.
Harassment, threats, disruptive conduct, dishonesty, unsafe behavior, confidentiality violations, academic misconduct, or other serious violations of institutional requirements may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
19. Privacy & Patient Confidentiality
Students participating in clinical education are required to protect patient information and comply with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Patient information may not be photographed, recorded, copied, posted to social media, improperly incorporated into assignments, or otherwise disclosed without appropriate authorization.
Violations involving patient confidentiality may result in immediate removal from a clinical site and additional disciplinary action.
20. Student Communications
Students are responsible for providing NIHT with accurate contact information and maintaining access to the email address and telephone number provided during enrollment.
NIHT may communicate with students regarding enrollment, tuition, payments, coursework, scheduling, academic progress, clinical requirements, institutional notices, and other matters related to their education.
Students are responsible for notifying NIHT when their contact information changes and for reviewing communications sent to their designated email address.
21. Payment Disputes & Chargebacks
Students are encouraged to contact NIHT promptly regarding suspected billing errors or payment disputes so that the matter can be reviewed.
Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute does not automatically constitute withdrawal from a program or eliminate a valid tuition obligation.
NIHT may provide relevant documentation—including enrollment records, payment records, course-access records, academic activity, and communications—to financial institutions, payment processors, or financing providers when responding to a payment dispute.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights available to a student under applicable consumer-protection or payment-card laws.
22. Program Changes or Cancellation
NIHT may reschedule or reasonably modify a course due to instructor availability, enrollment levels, technology interruptions, emergencies, regulatory considerations, or other operational circumstances.
If NIHT cancels a program and cannot provide an appropriate alternative, refunds or other remedies will be handled according to NIHT's Refund & Cancellation Policy, applicable enrollment documents, and regulatory requirements.
23. Information Concerning Third Parties
NIHT makes reasonable efforts to provide accurate information concerning professional credentialing, licensing requirements, and other matters relevant to students.
However, certification organizations, licensing boards, government agencies, employers, clinical facilities, and other third parties independently control their own policies and decisions and may change their requirements without notice to NIHT.
Students should verify current third-party requirements directly with the organization responsible for establishing them.
24. Changes to These Terms
NIHT may update these Terms & Conditions when reasonably necessary to reflect changes in programs, technology, institutional practices, or applicable requirements.
Material changes will not be applied retroactively in a manner that improperly reduces rights established under an existing enrollment agreement.
The terms applicable to an individual student's enrollment will be determined by the applicable enrollment documents, institutional policies, and governing requirements.
